Truth

This morning one of my storage shelves collapsed, breaking nearly all of the work I have made in California as well as some special pieces from Virginia and Denmark. At first I was struck by the shock of such a horrible noise. Yet, this emotion slowly evolved into something else. Sitting in the dark room, I couldn't help but see before me a pile of fallen leaves cast upon the cold autumn earth. Today the universe presents its irrefutable evidence of the transient and fragile nature of our world. While this lesson stings, I cannot help but see a hint of comfort among the detritus and the lesson it carries. Sometimes the greatest teachers must forgo comfort for truth.
