Maple trees seem few and far between in Mendocino. Having grown up in deciduous forests, I find myself longing for the beauty of their graceful and slender leaves - even amongst the great redwoods and pines on the coast. I am fortunate to have one right outside our door, which has been filling our windows with bursts of crimson red, gold, and orange as the sun sets. Last night's light was too good to let pass by, so I stopped working early to take photos.
